Welcome

Minera Quarry Trust was established in 2005 with the explicit aim of conserving the former quarry site for the benefit of the public.  Since then the trust has made significant progress in developing a plan of action for the site that encompasses both short term improvements and long term sustainability for the site.

In 2007 the Trust commissioned a feasibility study by a team of independent consultants who considered possible scenarios for the development of the quarry for the community.  A brief summary of the conclusions of the report are included in the “Feasibility Study” section of this site.  After reading this you could spare the time to complete the “Questionnaire” we would be very grateful for your feedback and ideas.

We are always seeking new members who can assist with the aims of the trust so if you are interested please do not hesitate to get in touch using the information on the site

The Minera Quarry Trust (MQT) takes the health and safety of people who choose to enter the quarry very seriously.

Following a recent incident where a local resident was injured, MQT would like to remind all users of the quarry that it is not currently a community facility and is owned by Lafarge Aggregates Limited. The site will remain a closed quarry until MQT gain control of the site.

When MQT and our partners gain control of the site, there will be appropriate signage, education, instruction and supervision for members of the public using the quarry.

Until that time, MQT would urge members of the public to walk only on way marked footpaths.
